Join an exciting tour of the city focused on local jazz history and see all the places where jazz is played now, and where jazz was played over the years from ever since it came to town after the First World War.

Hear about the great international, national, and local artists, who helped turn Aarhus into a jazz town throughout the years.

And learn about Aarhus Jazz Festival, which celebrates 30 years this year: how it all started, how the festival developed over the years, and what continues to make it a special and annually recurring event.

Along the way, we will be passing by a number of legendary venues, some of which are closed, others which have survived, and some that are new. This includes roughly 20 of the 37 venues that contribute to filling the town with jazz during this year's Aarhus Jazz Festival.

Learn about the different venues and hear some of the many fun stories and anecdotes that have always characterised the colourful jazz scene.

On this tour, you will become knowledgeable about Aarhus jazz history, particularly from the period 1950-1979, which is the focus of this Aarhus Jazz Festival. Additionally, there will be some recommendations on what concerts to see during the jazz week. Last, but not least, learn about the exciting and vibrant city that hosts the jazz music.

The tour starts in front of the Bispejazz Tent on Bispetorvet and ends, according to the wishes of the audience, on the same spot or at a nearby venue a few hours later. Here, it will be possible to digest the many words with sweet jazz notes and maybe a beer or glass of wine.

    Price 80/40 - Guide: Carl - Language: Danish - Duration: 2 hours

    Bispetorvet, Aarhus C
